Other services include program development and consultation to keep cancer programs and sites of care current with myriad new regulatory issues and to help them meet the challenges of an evolving health care system. For more information about myself or my services, please email me at MiriamRogers@Canursing.Com. I would be glad to discuss your needs and help you find the best solution whether through my services or other resources. This site will also have links to sites that offer more information about cancer care for both nurses and those with cancer. Let me know if you know of other sites that might be helpful. Occasionally there will be test links for online reference or educational resources, and your input on their utility would be appreciated.
Cancer nursing shares the same heart as all of nursing , but is also one of the most rapidly evolving areas of specialization in health care. The media announces advances in cancer care and delivery systems in a seemingly continuous stream. The setting of most care is shifting away from inpatient centers to the outpatient environment, and most cancer care now is provided in community-based oncology outpatient facilities and physician offices. Therapies, such as most chemotherapeutics, that were once solely the domain of an inpatient oncology unit are now provided routinely in an oncologist’s office. Even reimbursement now almost exclusively favors outpatient therapy. The need for continuing education has not changed and actually has intensified -knowledge and skills related to both cancer and its treatment becomes rapidly outdated with each new finding. The evolution of care technology as well as shifts in sites of care delivery means that care givers at all levels to need to be kept current in their practices in order to insure safe and effective care for patients. Since 1988, I have been providing these services through CANursing Enrichment nationwide where ever cancer care is offered.
By partnering with facilities, practice management groups, pharmaceutical companies or any other organization with a need, programs designed to disseminate new information, target specific learning needs or provide general enrichment can be provided onsite. These programs are professionally constructed according to the needs of the target group of learners in collaboration with the sponsor following the most rigorous of education standards. At the same time these programs reflect the unique needs and preferences of nurses and are presented in flexible formats to be maximally effective. Minimizing time to delivery is an important (and achievable) goal.
